Dez Kay
Born in High Wycombe, Dez Kay's love of music took him into the world of discos where he worked as a professional DJ for a number of years in the local pubs and night clubs and he fondly remembers his days as Resident DJ at "Woollys" night club in High Wycombe. He regularly presented programmes for Wycombe Radio in the 70's and early 80's and moved to Aylesbury in 1982
He then joined Stoke Mandeville Hospital Radio and has recently celebrated 40 years with the station and presents his regular weekly show "The Dez Kay Show" on a Thursday evening which includes great music, interviews and regular features.
Dez also presents one off "specials "often with celebrities being interviewed and some choosing their favourite songs with recent guests including Priscilla Presley, Tony Hadley ex Spandau Ballet, Russell Grant, Henry Winkler (The Fonz) & Jimmy Osmond to name a few.
In 2003 he won the Aylesbury Town Mayor's Award for Services to the Community.
As well as the studio work including voice overs for Adverts, Promos and Video's, Dez has hosted and compered many events around the Vale such as The Mayor's Songs for Christmas Concert, The Recycled Clothes Show, Aylesbury on Sea where he appeared with Samia Smith from Coronation Street, and in 2009 he hosted the same event with John Challis and Sue Holderness aka "Boycie and Marlene" from Only Fools and Horses. He also regularly comperes Carol Fest a very popular Town Council Event held at St Mary's Church at Christmas.
Dez was also the MC of The Aylesbury Business Excellence Awards presenting this prestigious event with the likes of Roger Black the Olympic Athlete, Steve Davis from the world of Snooker, Bobby Davro, Cannon and Ball, and Phil Tufnell the ex England cricketer turned Television Presenter.
